A Thrilling Final – MI New York Win MLC 2025


The final match of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. MI New York faced off against Washington Freedom on July 13, and what a match it turned out to be.


MI New York batted first and put up a strong total. Their key player, Monank Patel, played a solid innings. He had a great season, scoring the most runs in the whole tournament—478 runs in total. His calm and confident batting helped MI set a challenging target.


Washington Freedom started their chase well. Their star, Mitchell Owen, kept them in the game with both bat and ball throughout the tournament. He was later named the Player of the Series. But in the final, as the pressure built, things started slipping away.


The last over was full of tension. Washington needed just a few runs to win. Every ball brought gasps from the crowd. But MI’s bowlers kept their nerves and bowled cleverly. Yorkers, slower balls, and tight fielding did the trick. In the end, MI New York won the match by just 5 runs.


This win gave MI New York their second MLC title in three seasons. For Washington Freedom, it was a tough loss, but reaching the final two years in a row shows how strong they are as a team.


This final wasn’t just a game—it was a display of skill, pressure, and passion. And it showed that cricket in the USA is growing fast.
